We highly recommend pet owners test their animals for heartworm and other microscopic parasites annually. Most parasites are found in the soil and old pools of water. As we all know, most dogs love to dig in the dirt and play in the yard where they are most susceptible to contracting parasites and other diseases. Heartworm is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito. Unlike humans, dogs lack the necessary antibodies to defend against heartworm infection. If left untreated, heartworm and other parasites can be fatal to your pet. This is why we recommend an inexpensive annual exam to make sure your dog is safe and healthy year round from parasites and heartworm. Please note, it is dangerous to treat a dog with heartworm prevention if they have not been tested for more than a few months.
